What are 5 things that have made you happy this week?
- Talking to certain people.
- Fixing the problems I was having with my video collaboration with Matthew.
- Watching movies with Jason.
- Knowing without a shadow of a doubt, that things are going to be alright.
- God decided to throw out some clouds today to break up the bright sunshine and cast a chimera-like soft lighting on the world.
1) Dinner with my fam for my Uncle Tom’s Bday at becco(great italian rest. by times square. Normally a bit out of my price range because we were well into the four digits when we finished but the second best steak I have ever eaten id say). We can be so great together sometimes. I have hungout with a lot of families but seriously when we get together it really is something special that I dont think most families can compare to.
2) Listening to Pandora.com. Listening to the Sam Cooke station which is just tremendous but I have been on the Crows station almost nonstop. Im not finding a ton of new music(actually absolutely none except for a song called monkey by the counting crows that somehow I had forgotten which I really loveeee now) on that station but sometimes its nice to just curl up under the blankets with something familiar and remember.
3) Laying on my brothers couch with my pug. I jsut love when she lays on my chest snorting and just wanting affection from me. Damn thats a good dog and she fits in so well with who we are as a fam. Not exactly conforming to what people think is the right thing or the right way for people to be but still being such good people or a pug in her case.
4) Watching “Say Anything” even though it had freaking commercials. I really love Cameron Crowe movies. Even the ones most people think are the weaker links like “Elizabethtown”. I think its because he has such a great touch for music, such a great ear for what song really captures the essence of a scene. As you may or may not know from reading this lil blog I tend to connect everything and everyone in life to a song so thats means a lot to me. I do have to briefly mention the idea that say anything and lloyd dobler ruined a generation of girls by setting such unrealisitic standards for how romantic(is that the right word? I dont know) a guy could be. I think that might be slightly true but I think it screwed just as many guys who like me think that they can wander around aimlessly and make up for it by having a good heart and through romantic gestures. If you read the valentines day posts you know that no matter much effort you put into being lloydish it just isnt going to work. that isnt the real world. You cant fix real screw ups(which I have plenty of) or win a girl by doing ridiculous romantic gestures like spending your last dollar, spending hours writing things for her, making video type things for her or standing outside her window with a radio and trenchcoat(ahhh I didnt do that that was the movie. loll.). It just wont work, you need to be not just a good hearted guy you need to be a good guy.
5) Ahhhh actually writing this blog was kinda cool. Def made me happy to write this. ill def be adding karenabad to the follow list. Sometimes you dont really realize the little things that put a smile on your face unless you do something like this.
